What it looks like

The Royal Recruits is a Common card that is unlocked from the Royal Arena (Arena 7). It spawns six single-target, ground-targeting, melee, ground troops with moderate hitpoints and moderate damage with shields in addition to their normal hitpoints. Their deployment is in a horizontal formation spanning the Arena. They appear as men with large, round noses, wear wooden buckets with team-colored feathers, which cover their faces, metal gloves, an armor, a chain mail, a team-colored shirt and belt, and brown sandals, and wield spears and wooden shields. They are also the same as that spawned by the Royal Delivery. A Royal Recruits card costs 7 Elixir to deploy.

Trivia

  • Shields were first developed during the Bronze Age, as a protection device, designed to block attacks by hand weapons, such as swords, axes and maces, or ranged weapons like sling-stones and arrows. Shields have varied greatly in construction over time and place. Sometimes shields were made of metal, but wood or animal hide construction was much more common; wicker and even turtle shells have been used. Shields were retired in warfare, but are still used to this day for police enforcement. The Royal Recruits are 1 of 3 troops to have a shield, along with the Guards and Dark Prince.
  • The Royal Recruits are 1 of 20 cards associated with nobility, with the others being Knight, Royal Giant, Royal Delivery, Tower Princess, Royal Hogs, Dark Prince, Prince, Raging Prince, Mega Knight, Princess, Royal Ghost, Spirit Empress, Super Knight, Dagger Duchess, Royal Chef, Golden Knight, Skeleton King, Archer Queen, and the Little Prince. In the Turkish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Persian, Indonesian, Thai, Finnish, and Vietnamese language settings of the game, the Royal Recruits' name translates to "Bodyguards", "Apprentice Bodyguards", "Royal Trainees", "Royal Guards", "Royal Soldiers", "Royal Army", "Royal Conscripts", "The King's Warriors", and "Royal Rookies" respectively.
  • The Royal Recruits is the most expensive Common card, costing 7 Elixir.
  • The Royal Recruits are one of the first troop cards to receive a card render, alongside the Archers, Knight, Goblins, Bomber, Skeletons, Barbarians, Bats, Skeleton Barrel, Rascals, Musketeer, Giant, Valkyrie, Wizard, Flying Machine, Hog Rider, Royal Hogs, Dart Goblin, Zappies, Elixir Golem, Baby Dragon, Skeleton Army, Witch, P.E.K.K.A, Prince, Balloon, Giant Skeleton, Goblin Giant, Hunter, Electro Dragon, Wall Breakers, Bowler, Cannon Cart, Mega Knight, Ram Rider, Miner, Royal Ghost, Ice Wizard, Magic Archer, Bandit, Lava Hound, Night Witch, and Fisherman.
  • The Royal Recruits are 1 of 23 cards that has had its Elixir cost changed, the others being Bomber, Fire Spirit, Cannon, Mortar, Musketeer, Three Musketeers, Heal, Goblin Hut, Bomb Tower, Barbarian Hut, Furnace, Elixir Collector, Skeleton Army, P.E.K.K.A., Wall Breakers, Electro Giant, Bowler, Goblin Barrel, Barbarian Barrel, Rage, Fisherman, and the Monk. The Royal Recruits, the Three Musketeers, the Elixir Collector, and the Monk are the only cards whose Elixir cost was increased.
  • The Royal Recruits are 1 of 10 cards to have an alliterative name, the others being the Goblin Gang, Mega Minion, Goblin Giant, Cannon Cart, Barbarian Barrel, Ram Rider, Dagger Duchess, Boss Bandit, and the Mighty Miner.
  • The Royal Recruits take up the most amount of space of any card in the game, stretching across almost the entire arena. As a result, the Royal Recruits is the only card that cannot be placed at the opponent's territory if one Crown Tower has been destroyed.
  • Even though the card spawns 6 Royal Recruits, the card image only displays 3 Royal Recruits, and the render displays only 2.
  • From their description, it is implied that Royal Recruits can be promoted to be Dark Princes at some point. This is further referenced in a Facebook post where they are commanded by a Dark Prince.
  • The Royal Recruits were responsible for recruiting the Golden Knight, Skeleton King, Archer Queen, and the Monk in the Arena. They were also responsible for recruiting an unknown Champion, however the Little Prince ended up stealing the recruitment letter and was recruited instead.
  • The deploy sound of the Royal Recruit spawned from the Royal Delivery is different to the one of the Royal Recruits spawned from the Royal Recruits card.
  • The Royal Recruits, along with the Skeletons and Bats, are featured as a sub-character in Squad Busters.
