What it looks like
The Cannon is a Common card that is unlocked from the Barbarian Bowl (Arena 3). It spawns a single-target, ground-targeting, medium-ranged, building with moderate hitpoints and moderate damage. It appears as a large dark metal barrel mounted on a four-legged wooden mount with a metal plate and a crude, with two team-colored ridges, one midway and the other at the rear. A Cannon card costs 3 Elixir to deploy.
Trivia
- The word "Cannon" comes from the Akkadian word "𒄀" (qanû), meaning reed. Cannons were invented in China during the twelvth century. It was most likely developed in parallel or as an evolution of an earlier gunpowder weapon called the fire lance. Cannons were used for warfare by the late thirteenth century in the Yuan dynasty and spread throughout Eurasia in the fourteenth century. During the late Middle Ages, large and small cannons were developed for siege and field battles. The cannon replaced prior siege weapons such as the trebuchet. After the late Middle Ages, most large cannons were abandoned in favor of greater numbers of lighter, more maneuverable field artillery. The Cannon is 1 of 4 cards associated with cannonry, with the others being Royal Giant, Cannon Cart, and Cannoneer.
- The Cannon is 1 of 7 buildings which first existed in Clash of Clans, the others being Mortar, Tesla, Goblin Hut, Inferno Tower, Elixir Collector, and X-Bow. The Cannon resembles the old Level 4 Cannon from Clash of Clans.
- While not available as a building in Squad Busters, the Cannon reappears there when spawned by a Cannon Spell.
- The Cannon, along with the Tombstone, are the cheapest buildings, costing 3 Elixir.
- Among all buildings that can attack, the Cannon is tied with Tesla for the shortest range of all buildings, with a range of 5.5 tiles.
- The Cannon is one of the first building cards to be featured in a Trainer's deck, alongside the Goblin Hut, Tombstone, Bomb Tower, Inferno Tower, and Barbarian Hut.
- The Cannon is 1 of 23 cards that has had its Elixir cost changed, the others being Bomber, Fire Spirit, Royal Recruits, Mortar, Musketeer, Three Musketeers, Heal, Goblin Hut, Bomb Tower, Barbarian Hut, Furnace, Elixir Collector, Skeleton Army, P.E.K.K.A., Wall Breakers, Electro Giant, Bowler, Goblin Barrel, Barbarian Barrel, Rage, Fisherman, and the Monk. The Cannon, the Mortar, and the P.E.K.K.A were the first cards whose Elixir cost was changed since the February 2016 Update. Out of all cards whose Elixir cost was changed, the Cannon has had the largest change in Elixir, with a change of 3 Elixir.
- The Cannon shares the first part of its description with the Tesla.
- Although Cannons themselves can only target ground troops, the King Tower's cannon can target both air and ground troops. This might be because the cannon is elevated on the tower.
- The Cannon is unavailable in multiple special game modes. More specifically: It is 1 of 20 cards that is unavailable in Mirror mode, the others being Minions, Mortar, Tesla, Goblin Hut, Tombstone, Bomb Tower, Inferno Tower, Barbarian Hut, Furnace, Elixir Collector, Freeze, Clone, X-Bow, Golden Knight, Skeleton King, Archer Queen, Mighty Miner, Little Prince, and the Monk. It is unavailable in The Floor is Healing sub-mode of the Global Spell game mode, much like other building cards, as well as the Cannon Cart.
- The Cannon has received the largest percentage debuff to a singular upgradeable stat out of all cards in the game, with a 55% hitpoints decrease in the February 2016 Update.
- The Cannon has had balance changes that were planned for it but were not added to the game. More specifically: The initial balance change for Cannon on the 4/10/2022 balance changes was a 14% hitpoints decrease, but it was lowered to 8% last minute. The initial balance change for Cannon on the 4/3/2025 balance changes was a 6% damage decrease, but it was changed to an attack time interval increase to 1 second (from 0.9 seconds) last minute.
